a bit about me

Justine (she/her/hers) is a Chicago based actress, singer, and artist. She grew up in the rainy city of Seattle, Washington (“which is not as rainy as everyone thinks”, she tells people). While she had been singing for as long as she could talk, Justine got her theatrical start in Shakespeare at a young age. She was led to musical theater soon after, and never looked back.

Justine trained at multiple institutions in the Seattle area throughout her childhood, and attended Roosevelt High School (a public school in the area that is also a magnet for the performing arts) where her training and love for theater only blossomed. The summer after graduating, she was a part of The Performing Arts Project Company 4. She then moved across the country to attend the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University (CCPA). The summer between her junior and senior years, she was a member of The Powerhouse Training Program (New York Stage and Film / Vassar College). She graduated from CCPA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, and has been pursuing theater professionally ever since.

Justine’s core belief is that empathy and compassion must live at the base of all art. She is constantly trying her best to be present in the moment, and to live unconditionally in her work and her life.

“By delving into the truth of character, and using storytelling to explain the world around us, we teach audiences to be more empathetic and understanding to the human experience. We teach people to be kinder, and to live with their eyes open. We make the world a better place.”

When not performing, Justine can be found reading, knitting, spending time in nature, and going to museums. She watches many, many DIY videos on YouTube, and subsequently spends an inordinate amount of time designing and decorating areas of her apartment. She enjoys playing ukulele and piano,
and is at her happiest when spending time with her family, her friends, and her cat, Ellie.

“the arts are not a way to make a living. they are a very human way of making
life more bearable. practicing an art is a way to make your soul grow.”
